I use the DeMarini CF5-3 for close encounters with large predatory game. One of these will last through three grizzlies or kodiaks. For polar bears, I recommend having a spare. You may be able to take out one adult polar bear with one DeMarini, but you really should have a backup. You should also use batting gloves with polar bears.
