We're talking about bidding wars where construction and work done on the city were given to out of state companies in some cases because they were willing to slip the right people enough cash under the table. Or the fact that the in-state jobs worked on were in so tight with the local government that they essentially got every job that would come up, and then would completely half ass it and distribute the majority of profits as kickbacks. Or the fact I could stab you in the chest 30 times and the police would either A.) Not show up at all or B.) Show up a minimum of 45 minutes later. Or how about the fact there are desolate blocks of NOBODY but maybe one or two families living in crack houses. In some cases the blocks are 100% abandoned... they're just begging for somebody to bulldoze the shit out of them and create urban farms or something of use, but instead they take up space and resources that the city can't afford to maintain anyways.
The people who run that city need to pass the responsibility on to somebody else. Not that it will magically fix everything, but it may at least slow the bleeding.
There are good parts of Detroit, but they are shrinking fast.
