Funny thing, we were originally going to just use 4 slots in a large stacked server but when we took our IT guys over to it they clucked their tongues and whistled in appreciation for what they thought was a museum piece. One even took a picture to share on nerd facebook or whatever hardcore IT guys use to share pictures of hard drive clusters. Building our own server was by far the best option--even the data back up service provided by central IT would cost $2k/year. This box was $1800 out the door, with a 2 year service contract.
