I wanted to file for bankruptcy years ago, but didn't. Then in 2008, the Bush administration changed the laws so that you can't declare chapter 7 if you make more than the median income for your area, no matter how much debt you're in. So, that's where we are now. Drowning in debt and unable to declare bankruptcy. We could file Chapter 11, but Chapter 11 just enforces a payoff plan, which we're already doing ourselves, except that it adds fun provisions like if you miss a payment you get charged with contempt of court. No thanks.
