Molly update
Molly's putting just slightly more weight on the leg today than yesterday. Vet palpated her leg but that's it. Gave me Tramadol when I asked if Rimadyl was really enough pain management (why didn't he give it to me last week??). Says come back in 7-10 days and maybe then he'll put her under and do the drawer displacement tests to categorically diagnose or rule out CCL tears.
Maybe he's just being conservative, but I sort of feel like he's padding the bill. On the one hand he said he wants to wait and see if she continues to improve, but on the other, the way he worded things he made it sound inevitable that she'd be sedated next visit for the drawer tests and then have surgery the same day.
Maybe I'm being oversensitive but I caught a vibe I didn't like. I'm thinking about taking her to another well regarded vet in the area for a second look.
