We had a Japanese dog, a Shiba Inu in fact. He was adorable, but very difficult to train. When Molly got sick, we found him a new home because he couldn't understand that he wasn't supposed to keep aggressively trying to engage her in play while she was laying senseless on the floor from a mite dip, and so on.
He was kind of a shit, but that was just because I couldn't figure out how to train him. He wasn't a very good representative of his breed, either, in retrospect. I won't buy another pet shop dog, that's for sure, have learned a lot in 7-9 years.
