Pro tips:
There are overhead mine carts filled with burning ore in the north tunnel. Use these. They help a lot.
There is a mine cart track spanning the north and south sides of the map right in front of the western spawn points. Use the ice amulet to freeze enemies while on this track. When the mine carts hit them, the damage is huge.
