It turned out to be only two, but the transactions didn't go through. The credit card people deemed the transactions potentially fraudulent. Microsoft (or whoever -- Digital River?) then decided not to sell the subscriptions. On my credit card site, they were listed as "pending." So I called up the credit card people and made sure they were canceled. Then I went to Walmart and bought an Office card. Entered the product key on the card and got my Office. Seems to work all right so far.
Windows 8.1 continues to be insane.
