Here are some things I've inferred about DS:
1. He seems to make unique games. "Unique" here may be defined as eccentric in their complexity, accessibility, and technical polish.
2. He just does what mainstream (and more legally constrained) developers wish they could do when players get abusive. On the other hand, most independent developers are more receptive to customers' legitimate questions, complaints, and wishes. I'm not aware of Basilisk or Spiderweb calling players "stupid" in responses to tech queries, though they may be thinking this privately.
3. Of late, DS has been admirably restrained. He normally shows up only when threads have gotten really defamatory. Once he enters these threads, he takes a lot more abuse than he dishes out. His replies seem half-hearted, as though he's acting a part and has a momentary yen to participate in a Derek Smart Event. There are even occasions when intensive summoning fails to invoke him. The days of the legendary screaming matches are long over.
As for Jaime's Youtube notion: I would fully support either a Barbie or a BattleDesktopCommanderCoakMashine 3000 A.D. longplay.
