This is an extremely interesting thread. I must contribute to it.
Did I mention that I've retired my wizard's melee build and am now back to fire? Yes. It's true.
Primary: Magic Missile/Conflagrate
Secondary: Arcane Orb/Scorch
Slot 1: Energy Armor/Prismatic
Slot 2: Meteor/Meteor Shower
Slot 3: Teleport/Fracture
Slot 4: Black Hole/Blazar
Passives: Blur (17% damage reduction), Evocation (20% cooldown reduction), Astral Presence (+20 AP, +2 AP regen per second), Unwavering Will (stand still for 1.5 seconds and gain 10% damage, 20% armor and all resists)
Also have a legendary axe that adds 18% to fire skills plus legendary bracers that add another 18%. Also have Mirrorball orb that adds 2 Magic Missiles per shot, along with ridiculous Int and other stats. Most armor pieces are as perfect as I can get them in terms of Int, Vit, Armor, All Resists, Crit Chance. Jewelry adds more CC, etc.
Moving around, I get close to 400k dps and close to 2k resists. Standing still -- TO THE MOON, ALICE.
Also, transmogrified my ugly hat.
