There is no real "donating" in the true sense of the word with crowd funding. People only donate if they're going to get a reward (namely the product you're funding). MOST people should be budgeting how much they need to create said product in bulk, so that the donations can go towards manufacturing it.

With Kickstarter, it's either fund 100% or get nothing. That protects the investors from having the campaign starter say, "Sorry but ya'll a bunch of bitches and I didn't make enough to fund the entire campaign. I'm out!".

In this case I'm trying to print 500 copies. I already have a bunch of copies laying around that I play with friends, so the worst case scenario is that it fails and I continue playing it anyways. It's just expensive to print them one at a time so it'd be nice to have a bulk order for distribution.
