"3D" objects that occupied space apart from planes weren't bad for the time, but there was almost no articulation, realistic segmentation, and so on. Look at the chairs on the prison ship. Look at the dead bodies. Also, for the time, the level work was okay, but nowadays it's kind of startling to see how angular everything is. I'm not saying the art in Unreal was badly done. It's just primitive now.

Gotta say, though: I still love the opening fly-through. Cool beans is that.
