I messed around with Freespace 2 but never got very far. I'm too sucky at mission/escort objectives and keyboard mapping that requires more than five or six things to remember.
Maybe this is why I liked Freelancer so much. It seemed like the poor dumb man's space "sim." Once I got a super nice pirate ship with the best weapons, however, it was pretty much game over. Not complaining; just saying it turned into a constant side quest/win button scenario, so there was no point in going on.
