Well, the AMD drivers thing is humbug. People complain about both AMD and Nvidia drivers, and the complaints are largely unfounded. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

The main difference between AMD and Nvidia now is in their flagship cards. The big Radeons cost less, but the big Nvidias have better power management. It's all a lot of quibbling rubbish. Both companies make good cards and good drivers. Both companies want a crap ton of money for them.

I think the 750 Ti is a waste of money even though your requirements right now are in line with it. About five minutes after installing that thing, you'll want something nicer. It's a 128-bit card, which means it's not that much better than onboard graphics. Gaming cards start at 256-bit and go up.
