there's a difference between "not working" and "properly working"
you see, unlike AMD intel actually has different specs for running ur system memory, it's not gigabytes fault they wont "allow" ancient DDR3.0 modules to run at half assed jack knife timings and broken sync with the controller
there are people who throw this ram into their system and dont know why their shitty asus is acting kinda funny and stupid.. when it really shouldnt be there in the first place
if you simply must install retard ram, the gigabyte system will still allow it, it just wont let you fill up all four slots with the aspergers...
it's designed for proper resource compatibility and not for actual use m8
