Also, a lot of the crap generated during the fin de siècle art-for-art's-sake years can be tied to libidinous panting after the PRB and lunatics like Swinburne. Thank goodness Modernism came along and rescued practically every art form. It was like professionals coming in and restoring a derelict house ruined by squatters.
