thats not to say the romans didnt mass produce things. but i dont think the lorica segmentata or any other full abdominal metal protection was produced anywhere near the scale we think of today
i honestly dont believe more than 10000 of these were produced in all of roman history, again im being generous with this number
and there were only few occasions where large ranks of men were armored. probably a single battle, or two or three really important ones sometime after AD 100
what we think of the roman military is probably a mix of trajan and the 14th century
