RE: Important Diabroloblo milestone notice
So here is the place to explain what's wrong with the wizard.
In a nutshell, the wizard class has stupid skill design. Too many active skill slots are taken up by requirements that have little or nothing to do with direct damage. One slot is used for Energy Armor. Another is used for an escape skill like Teleport or Mirror Image. Yet another must be used for something like Familiar/Sparkflint or Magic Weapon if you want decent DPS. That's three slots, and only one (the escape skill) should be active. The rest should be passive.
This is why the wizard is the red-headed stepchild of Greater Rift groups. She's supposed to be Diablo's primary damage class, but that position has been given to the demon hunter, whose active skill slots actually do useful, direct things.
To fix the wizard, Blizzard would have to revisit her foundational design, and this is something they will probably never do because they have a real phobia about changing those original class designs.
'Tis a real pity because the wizard is my favorite class. So many asplosions. So much fashion potential. I weep.
