lovin my steam machine
honestly, the x360 gamepad is the pinnacle of gamepad design. which isn't saying much, but it's still nice to use the best of something, no matter how pathetic it may be.
windows 8 looks sexy on a tv. the metro apps go perfect with a gigantic display.
THE GAMES - oh christ, they're being rendered dot-by-dot via the displays native resolution with no upscaling. and the 290X really will push anything in 1920x1080... yes, RYSE son of rome and metro LL work with their highest settings at a playable FPS (above 40 average) on this TV
the docking station is just too fucking slick
anyone who builds an HTPC rather than just buying a cheap laptop with a docking station, is a total idiot. THE LAPTOP POPS RIGHT OUT WHEN I NEED IT ON THE GO. THEN POPS BACK IN WHEN I WANT TO PLAY THE WORLDS MOST ORGASMIC GRAPHICS.
the special thing which adds the final touch of magic is the xpadder software. the whole fucking thing is configured with full mouse/scrolling capability and full computer control, minus only the alphabetical and numerical keys.
and i havent found a game which doesnt include 'xinput' support.
the software will automatically load or switch profiles depending on what you tell it, and you can even setup profiles to manually switch profiles after an autoload of a profile. which works great.
typically an xinput game needs only a blank controller. so i have my default comp-control profile disabled on launch of the streaming client.
