I finished reading
the Transformer trilogy by MA Foster. I think he's a good writer who should be more known. I got interested in him because he was said to be somewhat similar to Jack Vance. I can tell how he's influenced by Vance. One Vancean thing he does is to put footnotes in his novels. The explanation of the Word "bagger" made me chuckle:
"Slang. Homely women were called "baggers" by the men, allegedly on the premise that they were so ugly they would have to put a bag over their head in order to have a liaison with someone. Ever more extreme were the so-called two-baggers, in which cases the man would also put a bag over his head, in case hers came off."
I'll be reading more of his works for sure...
