RE: FallOut 4
I would like to see the indies doing more risk-taking. I don't have anything against pixel art retro things. I really enjoyed Cthulhu Saves the World. The problem is that Steam is drowning in them. You can't tell me that the gaming public is begging for more pixel art retro games. They can't possibly be wanting more turn-based things either. How about more RTS games? What about a few shooters using some nearly free last-gen engine?
Because it's easier to make 8-bit retro arcade spinoffs than a shooter like Hard Reset. There's no reason to make Grey Goo when you can make Turn-Based Thing Number 8,214 and run it up the Steam flagpole. Price it right and you'll certainly get salutes. The real market is phones anyway, so Steam is just gravy.
I am maybe speaking too soon. More research is needed for a clearer understanding of the indie landscape. I will attempt to be more observant.
