Subject: Diabro patch 2.3.0 about to go PTR

Simulcast on MBM

details

No reason to get excited yet, as PTRs (public test realms) go on forever before patches become official. However, this might be worth playing. Features that interest me:

1. New area (barbarian culture based)

2. Changes to adventure mode, including Torment levels 7 through 10.

3. Weird crafting changes, including Kanai's Cube

This Kanai's Cube thing seems to be a rejiggering of Diablo 2's Horadric Cube. It might be pretty cool. Then again, it might be a portable Kadala ATM with bad RNG. Clearly it will be a crafting mat sink. I only hope it's not another money sink as well.

They're also getting rid of trials in Greater Rifts. I guess this is a good thing, even though I don't play GRs enough for it to be a problem.

Monsters apparently will be more CC-proof, and players will be forced to "explore" rift levels instead of racing to the Guardian pinatas. "Explore" usually means having to fight more elites so you can get more junk yellow items, but we'll see.

As usual, there's a big emphasis on crafting. I hope it works better than it does now. Presently, the only reason to use crafting is to get an ancient Devastator. They need to make all the other legendary and set craftable items more appealing. They've got a pretty good start on improving found legendaries, but people still need certain found sets and found weapons to get anywhere in higher-tier GRs.

The forum is clamoring for more stash space, but I don't see how this will do much for them. If they can fill up five tabs so easily, a sixth one won't be any great shakes. Wouldn't hurt, I suppose.
