Subject: RE: Skylake - yay?

funny thing is intel hasn't been doing shit since the core2 series

the 2500k is hardly better than any 45nm core series

people have this magic ass love for the sandy bridge because they think their processor "feels" better
this feeling comes from the soldered lid, it was the last CPU to have an all-metal die package, before intel decided to jew itself and go with thermal padding ontop of a fucking cpu die, which is insanely fucking retarded

the 2500 and 2600 aren't bad, but the best sweet spot in longevity would have been purchasing a socket 775 core series 45nm quad. a single well invested purchase would have carried you for many years and would have started you out much earlier than buying a sandy bridge

we still havent reached a forced upgrade point
you can run sata 3 and usb3 from a pcie 2.0 lane on a 10 year old computer, and it will also carry any modern GPU and run any game just fine, yes, even with DDR2 system ram. i have found DDR2 to be extremely fast for some reason, my p35 e8400 system still amazes me.

anyway the key thing i see in forcing an upgrade would be native NVME support
AHCI is an outdated, retarded command set. nevermind whatever port it's running on, the command set itself is inherently fucked. but speaking of ports, M.2 has to be the most retarded shit in history. never have i seen such a worthless thing become standardized and actually installed on motherboards. the future will look at M.2 as an obscure oddity

gibabit lan is stupid

and later-market ddr4 would be very cool

were also on the cusp of SSD storage boom where SSD's will hit multiple terabytes for cheap and will be EXTREMELY fast and you simply couldn't operate at these speeds with AHCI and sata
i used to be angry and the weak gains i got from pumping all this dosh into my i7 4790k system, but now that i've had more glimpses into the hardware future, i understand that this system wasn't all a waste considering it will last the same amount of time as my s775 system did before all this new technology i speak of is in full effect.
i dont mind the old 775 system i have laying around intact, i have the benifit of a second desktop now and im sure i will find a use for it and more of my monies worth
