Subject: RE: Skylake - yay?

As the process node get smaller, thermal constraints become bigger issues which is why clock speeds have pretty much stagnated for the past 10 years and a huge chunk of the die is now "dark silicon". What you do gain is power efficiency and the ability to stuff more cores on a die, but with that latter bit, the shit dram latency becomes even more apparent. It would be nice if sram was at least an option for those people who are willing to buy something more expensive than a $200 HP laptop. I mean it's 2015 ffs, so why don't we have computers with unified memory yet? I'm gonna go freeze myself now. Thaw me out when shit is cooler, or the planet is a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
