I don't believe in lasers. They're as fictional as ball lightning and weather balloons. However, I think you're onto something with the X-Files. When people claim to witness anomalies in the night sky, they may be seeing experimental flashlights. DARPA or somebody took Mulder and Scully's flashlights and mutated them into flashlight cannons mounted on special satellites. I don't know what their purpose might be, but I can't help thinking Indian casinos are involved.
