You're probably thinking, "Sim, if the monsters are stunned, why do you need all that damage reduction?"
That's an excellent question. Even though monsters are stunned, this effect only lasts for about a second at most. More often, it's a fraction of a second, since T6 and above enemies have more resistance to CC effects. Also, this resistance increases the more you try to stun the same crowd. So something is always going to escape the stun and chill, meaning that you're always going to get hit. Therefore, you can't do without big defense.
Also, you have to remember that the monsters are enraged by my poise and beauty. Most of them look like bedraggled cats with fat thighs, so they get really angry when they see me looking perfect all the time.
