RE: fucking normies
I decided to go help the Ten Pines settlement, as per Preston Garvey's suggestion. The "settlement" is about two or three people occupying a box. They wanted me to go to the Corvega Plant to deal with some raiders.
First, I can't imagine why raiders would be interested in Ten Pines. It has nothing that would interest even the most desperate molerat.
Second, I thought I'd run into maybe four or five raiders. The Corvega Plant is infested with an army. I must have killed sixty or seventy, and they keep showing up. I'm scrounging for bullets and any rare stimpacks I can find. I get half my hide burned off every time one of them tosses a molatov cocktail or grenade (which they do with perfect accuracy, while my grenades mostly bounce back and kill me).
I had to send Dogmeat back to Red Rocket because he was more nuisance than help. So I'm alone, facing an army of outlaws, with very little ammunition, crappy guns, shredded armor, and little hope of survival. And I'm having a splendid time.
