merrells are the shizznit
hiking boots are such a retarded gimmick
people pretend you need rigid arch support and load bearing planks or something, but its a total load of bullshit
i've ascended to 13k in fucking ultra low cut classic puma suedes, where are the most basic shoe you can possibly imagine. they dont have any type of padding or ankle support, and its just a flat rubber sole, while carrying a 60lb load on my back, believe me, my feet were fine. those shoes were comfortable as fuck.
but the best hiking shoes have always been skateboarder shoes, which are even better than my pumas. they have always been better than $350 hiking boots even, they are extremely padded and plush inside and really make a huge difference in comfort on your feet, especially while carrying a load. never had any issues with ankle support or anything, all that shit is a total gimmick. the only reason you would need mid cut or high cut boots is to keep water out and/or warm in. it has nothing to do with stability, your feet can "stable" themselves just fine without the fucking ankle-boot.
merrell are the first company to take a skater shoe and actually make a boot out of them
this shit is genius. i have been saying this for so long.
the company is doing very well, and everyone loves their products.
they are durable, ultra lightweight, breathable and warm in cold weather.
if you don't own a pair of merell's, that you are a fucking retard
