I'm in love
No, not with some 4/10 ugly spoiled mexican psychopathic liberal retard, but with a new piece of computer hardware.
Gentlemen, let me tell you about the Intel Atom X series.
This is a very new and special CPU with a 2watt TDP often paired with LPDDR3 (low power smart phone memory) and the entire system runs off 5v @ 2A, similar to raspberry pi or any iOS/Andriod device. But this is a full x86 platform running Windows 10.
The processor is a 14nm Broadwel with 5th gen Intel HD graphics, and it's amazing.
It can play Skyrim with minimum settings and above 30fps. This is a freaking 2watt CPU package playing Skyrim - On windows 10 - Through DirectX.
People usually compare the AtomX to the latest ARM SoC, but that is total bullshit. The x86 architecture has more complex and larger instruction with more capability and processing functions and totally different methods of operation. Anyone who compares ARM to Intel is a fucking moron. I'm sure you all know ARM only performs well because it's a highly specialized platform. But I believe we can do a simple transistor count here and it will be accurate enough when comparing the two. Haven't looked at the TC yet, but I know this CPU is Intel and NOT leased British dogshit. But lets also pretend that Skylake doesn't exist too just for the sake of argument.
The AtomX is technically the best CPU on the market right now in terms of efficiency, it computes much data for an extremely small amount of power. I've been testing battery life under OCCT 'PSU' test, which throws a maximum computational load at all logical cores + memory and the GPU simultaneously. Amazed. My tablet comes equipped with a cheap featherweight 6200mAh battery and the CPU is under the flimsiest most basic aluminum slab of passive cooling, and the battery lasted over 4.5 hours and temps did not pass 84C on all cores + GPU. I also checked for throttling and there was none. My monitoring app has all the performance and sensor readings graphed via a timeline and nothing was ever cut during the entire test.
The Atom X series has a very limited release. Many manufactures just haven't adopted it.
I believe this has something to do with Microsoft and the Surface tablets. I believe Microsoft wants the initial Atom CPUs to be pretty much exclusive to the Surface for some reason.
The only other mainstream manufactures who produce AtomX devices are Toshiba, Asus and HP. And each of these only produce one or two basic models featuring AtomX. The HP is crazy overpriced at 1.2k, the Toshiba comes in second at $356, which is still overpriced, and the Asus ironically makes the best model with 4gb RAM and the lowest price of $299 or $256 open box on newegg. The Asus has some issues, but nothing serious once you start digging into them.
But Asus also has many other child companies which pretend they are not Asus but totally are. Lots of offbrand china shit at AMAZING prices. I picked up a Chuwi model hi10, and I am IN LOVE with this freaking thing. The price was a steal, the screen is so damn crisp and sharp its BEAUTIFUL and IT DOESN't USE PWM DIMMING FOR THE LED's!!! Initially I was worried about the type of NAND and RAM I would be getting, the internal storage of eMMC is made by hynix and I looked up the model number and couldn't find any serious issues. And I don't think faulty batches of LPDDR3 even exist. Overall the device just feels solid. This is not a bad china product.
What I love most about having a real x86 Intel CPU operating on 5v is how compatible it is with mobile solar charging and powerbanks. All of which are in the 5v 'mobile' family. It's perfect. My 10inch tablet weighs less than a pound, and all together with my Anker solar panels and Anker 20100mAh powerbank weighs about 3Lbs.
This is perfect for backpacking.
Fully independent unlimited powered computer which can play games innawoods.
BUY THIS.
