The main difference between Witcher 2 and 3 (aside from the open world part) was that you actually had to pay attention in 2, whereas 3 always has a quest marker and objective telling you exactly what to do so you can basically play it on autopilot like it's a Bethesda game. Potions/spells/traps were also a lot more necessary in 2.
