we get our wind from the rotation of the earth
this is not an official thing which is known, and probably under a thousand people on earth have thought about this.
but this is definitely not something you can read from a pretentious book.
if you sit there and actually think for yourself for a moment, you will realize that gas has a very different density than everything else. so when the earth rotates, the gas is not perfectly in tune with the rotation of earth. this in-turn is what causes the pressure variations which is what wind actually is.
you cannot possibly find anything which mentions this in a book or online, but i know it to be true because i actually sat down and thought about it. and now here you are reading about it like a big boy.
there is also a phenomena which can also be attributed to this.
at the eastern slope of the sierras is a known aeronautical death trap. where airplanes can be swept into the air and thrown onto the ground. like a giant wave.
i definitely believe this happens because of the mountain which is spinning and pushing through the oxygen, like a fan blade.
this would definitely be a batter explanation that what is currently proposed by science.
yes, our atmosphere is 'slippery'
it does not rotate in perfect tune with our earth
