christ you dont even know what ECC is

you can disable ECC, typically its a choice
buffering is the main 'gimmick' of server ram. typically people associate server memory with ECC because they are stupid. but its buffering which defines server grade memory. 'buffering' is no different than a memory controller with its own memory. intel is pretty stupid for not integrating this on-die with their xeon processors, but you know, that would actually cost money. because intel produces everything on the same wafer, like a filthy cheap kike, there is no difference between xeon and i-series.

but anyway, the first thing i considered was my motherboard as the culprit of my sluggish system. but i cannot imagine how this would be so. electrical circuts either work or they dont, there is virtually no middle ground. the closest thing i can think of would be a fault in the circuit logic of the power phase, but this would be obvious to detect.
im really not quite sure what is causing my system to bench lower, but its considerably lower. a my CPU score is basically 7000, when the typical result for my CPU is 8200
