do you know the true story behind the witcher 3?
nvidia had cdprojectred downgraded the entire video game because nvidia was convinced the witcher 3 was going to be a major generation defining title (their marketing team are idiots). they wanted nvidia cards to clearly have an advantage here. at first it started with hairworks, but they noticed that AMD cards would still run the game better with hairworks disabled, so it really turned into this huge mess of downgrades at the last moment which actually delayed the original release date (do you remember this?). and the final product was this graphically shitty looking mess.
keep in mind, there are still games being released where a simple radeon 290X is outperforming a GTX 980ti (cost additional $500 ontop of base price for 290X). and these games are not even dx12 or have async capability, which nvidia also still cannot do. no, these are regular normal games such as dark souls 3.
but lets look att he overall picture here.
AMD is an american company and was founded soon after fairchild semiconductor took root. AMD is older than intel (as a company).
nvidia is a company with a chinese CEO and a marketing department which is much larger than development.
both companies produce hardware which is made at the exact same factory, on the exact same technology.
but for some reason, one company feels the need to charge more than twice the amount for this hardware.
from a manufacturing perspective, this is highway robbery
