just so you guys know
you can play doom4 without paying for it.
quite simple
i have two solid state drives in my system. a fully updated copy of windows 10 with all your essential software installed only takes up 17gb of storage. so i keep an extra functioning OS on my second SSD. its fully isolated, and doesn't share a bootloader with my main OS.
all you have to do is buy the game on your alt-OS in steam
play it online for 20 mins, exit steam, and disable your ethernet adapter.
then start steam in offline mode and always keep your adapter disabled. the game works like this for at least a month.
when im done with the game, i just wipe the disk clean and restore the OS from an image i created before is installed the game. you can back up your OS with the windows image backup/creation utility. this creates an actual disk image, or disk clone of your OS. it can be kept on your storage drive and restored by booting from a reular USB windows 10 installer.
