here's the deal
NuDOOM is actually good, its pretty darn good.
As it's own game, it's great. But it's not really a doom game.
It feels more like another 'Prey'. As a left-field FPS which came out of nowhere and is not really related to anything else, but still is really good.
NuDOOM kind of plays with you.
The very beginning scene is pretty decent, then the game really fizzles short. They introduce enemies to you at a slow pace, and these new enemies seem corny and stupid. And the game keeps up this dull, corny, weak pace until you get to the 3rd or 4th area. This is when the action starts. And I must say, it's pretty damn good.
The music is 10/10, it's engineered perfectly and really ties in nicely with the flow of battle. This actually matters.
The gameplay itself gets pretty wild. The action and pacing are done extremely well. Some things remain which are not perfect, like the corny plot and story of people you just dont care about. Other things are retarded here and there, and many of the weapons are weak and shitty feeling. Only a few feel right, but they are done extremely well, especially the mini missile launcher for the assault rifle.
overall NuDOOM is a solid, strong 8.5/10 on its own.
but as a doom game this shit is 6/10 at best
