The famous Gene Kelly dance scene in Singin' in the Rain was done on a closed set, of course. What people don't know is that they used so much water that people in nearby neighborhoods had no pressure for extended periods. Also, when you watch the scene, what you're seeing is not pure water. They had to mix in milk to make it show up correctly on camera.
