Apparently, the mystic does not allow the addition of a discipline percentage stat on most Unhallowed Essence pieces. I can see the wisdom in this, as it would be quite OP. Maybe this has always been restricted to things like offhands. Funny, though, that the Crusader's Invoker set comes standard with gobs of Thorns damage secondaries, and you can add Thorns on practically every legendary item.

Say, did you know that the Cube will add a huge amount of your primary stat to an ancient item? It's true. In all cases, you need three flawless royal gems having the stat you want. You also have to sacrifice a legendary gem -- level 30 for a weapon, 40 for jewelry, and 50 for armor. Finally, you need a ton of gold.

You get 5 stat points for every legendary gem level. So if I wanted to add Intelligence to an ancient legendary or set torso armor, I would need 3 flawless royal topazes and at least a level 50 legendary gem I'm not using. This would add 250 Int, which is pretty significant.

Of course, it could be argued that if you manage to get a legendary gem to level 50, you'd be silly to trade in its power for a main stat upgrade. I have to agree. However, if you're one of those lunatic group players with 2500 paragon, and if you tend to concentrate on one toon, you probably have all kinds of high-level legendary gems you're not using, so this is a good sink in that case. (I personally still don't have a level 50 gem. I think my highest is 46 or thereabouts.)
