Subject: RE: Update on my lightning wizard

Latest change:

I replaced Energy Twister with Blizzard/Lightning Storm. I also started using the Deathwish sword for increased Arcane Torrent damage.

The Blizzard change sort of made my eyes pop. The damage increase was huge. I think this is because monsters only randomly get hit by twisters, but they can't escape from Blizzard. They get a constant wide-area shower of lightning damage, which seems to proc lots of Paralysis and therefore lots of the Manald Heal amped damage.

Without sets of any kind -- just ancient legendary gear and the Legacy of Nightmare rings -- my wizard is vaporizing everything. I believe this is made possible in part by 85% area damage, thus:

1. I hit a single target for X amount of damage.

2. I have a 20% chance of radiating 85% of that damage to surrounding targets.

3. It's almost a certainty that in a group of monsters, at least one is going to be paralyzed and thus proc the 14,000% weapon damage of Manald Heal. I'm not sure whether area damage is affected by this, but even if it's not, someone else in that group is going to get hit by at least 100% of my weapon damage mixed with critical damage and a 20% increase in lightning damage from my bracers. Probably more than one target will be affected by this. The chances of surrounding enemies being affected by (at MINIMUM) 85% of all this go up and up as more enemies are hit.

No wonder Blizzard has started putting more space between monsters and situating you in more long hallways. If you get open battlefields or big rooms with dozens of monsters trying to pounce on you simultaneously, they don't have a chance. The bigger the crowd, the bigger the massacre, so there's no safety in numbers.
