Subject: D3 Shadow/Impale build for demon hunter is OP

Everyone knows that Blizzard loves demon hunters. So it's no surprise that in patch 2.5 they revamped the Holy Point Shot quiver so that it generates more throwing knives for the unusual "melee" DH build.

With the attack speed of the Karlie's Point dagger and the perks conferred by the Shadow's Mantle set, the demon hunter is suddenly in contention with the Lightning/Archon wizard for number one boss/rift guardian killer.

I tried out this exact build last night. I am not exaggerating when I say that it is altogether too powerful for Torment 10. Seriously -- elites and rift guardians died with one shot. White mobs simply disappeared.

In fact, I had to stop playing it because it was too powerful. I didn't know how to handle it. I like being OP, but this is nuts.

And herein lies the problem with the Shadow/Impale build. You need lots of very high-level monsters to make it work. If enemies die too fast, you run out of Hatred. If you run out of Hatred, those same monsters who were dying so trivially will suddenly be one-shotting you. This didn't happen very often once I figured out how to play the build, but it was still rather nerve-wracking.

This is the ultimate nuclear Diabro toon, but I'm going back to Unhallowed Essence until I start doing high-tier greater rifts. I never thought I would avoid something in a game because it was too OP, but Shadow/Impale is so potent that I can't use it right now. Ironic, no?
