as for skyrim,
the customs of the nords are quite simple.
"high king" among nordic culture simply means you can kick any other nords ass. its a big claim. and yes, this strength is hereditary. and there is a proper way to challenge someone.
being an older male in late 30s, is considered the prime of your life. very disciplined yet fierce. you dont challenge some young adult who admires you, in mortal combat, this is not a fair fight.
those sided with ulfric are just the trash of skyrim who dont give a shit.
