i understand this contradicts what i previously said about mining resources, but i really intended it to be an option.
but what i also mean is that its possible to making materials acquisition almost purely based on mining.
the game has many mining sites scattered about, but these have very little importance. they are not often tied with any important characters or quests.
i dont even go into these places, they are just totally off my (and what i assume most others players) radar.
some emphasis needs to be put back into mining sites to place these areas back onto peoples radar
players need to be reminded of their importance, and some additional things are needed.
smithing perks need accompanying quests to go raid mines of the desired material. and these mines, since they are primary materials resources in the game, also need modification to reflect this importance. perhaps guarded entry, like in gothic2 towns where you have to come up with shit to gain entry. or stealth possibility with limited success (maybe accessing only 2 patches of ore which are available by stealth means and not being mined by any people), or brute force option, but only if you are like 20 levels above what level the material is intended for.
yes most mines should be associated with holds with added town guards which can really kick your ass. and bandit mines need better protection too.
also all mines associated with holds, - both guards and miners need to be tied to crimes and bounty
