Well well well
My PC games collection is well over 1000 now if you count series releases (e.g. gothic 1, gothic 2, gothic 3)
Or 928 games if you take each game with series releases and count them as one single game only. (gothic 1-3 counted as only 1 game)
Each one of these PC games is something which is worth playing, and also actually considered good, even by today's standards, (by my standards of course). There are many games, literally hundreds of them, which are total hidden gems. Some amazing stuff nobody knows about.
There are also a few very popular games I kept out, only because I have absolutely no interest in them, and even decided not to add them just for the sake of completion. Such as halflife two, and only a few others. But halflife one is complete, along with all expansions and the the good mods (brutal HL, and others).
There are some games which I added, which are not considered to be good by anyones standard, but decided to add them because I thought they were interesting anwyay, but mainly for historic purposes (Daikatana, and only a few others, not more than 5% of my collection of games would fall into the category) But overall, I would estimate my collection being 80% "great" by anyones standards. So its only about 20% fluff, mainly historic stuff.
I also recently added a collection of rogulikes I found on the internet archive.org, over 570 roguelikes for PC, all of them kept relatively up to date (collection was made in 2015) of course I am not counting these games in my total list of PC games. And I also have over 1,000 MS-DOS games, not being counted.
All the PC games and several dozen MS-DOS games have been meticulously prepared and arranged. Hundreds of diskimages needed to be converted properly to ISO.
thousands of files had to be renamed, had their redistributes deleted, and recompressed back into an archive.
thousands of directories arranged properly, in a consistent layout with proper names and spelling.
A good majority of my games all have all the best mods, and/or walkthroughs and/or special information or instruction or tips gathered from the internet. This alone was another monumental task.
I even have an archive of video tutorials for some highly complex strategy games, which top over 200 videos from here alone.
There is a software collection pertaining to games only, which include various fixes for old games, both applications and information, various steam loaders, gamepad apps, RPG maker collection, gamemaker studio and misc. stuff. Of course there is also a full suite of emulation; software and support. Proper stuff for running win 8x-9x in dosbox and virtualbox, the whole 9 yards. But all this is not kept in my games directory, the OS stuff are part of my 'sys' archives.
My emulation collection is almost equally as amazing.
Meticulous - and I do mean meticulous research was done to flesh out all the good stuff on PS1 and PS2. Over 200 games here alone which are considered very very good and/or hidden gems. PS1 collection is 95% 2D RPGs, as anything 3D on the PS1 is laughable garbage, but the 2D selections of games here are great. Lots of jap stuff with translations here too. I have them all, those which are worth having of course.
Huge archive of gamecube, wii, xbox classic, and dreamcast (only 5 games worth owning for DC though)
Full archive of all retro systems up into 5th gen, along with complete collections of hack roms and translations for these retro systems, which are very large for NES and SNES. But I got the rare sega shit too.
Complete mame collection, .161 minus the large sized rom collection (forgot what they were called)
Also complete laserdisk arcade collection for Daphne.
You have idea of the amount of time invested in all this.
Total size of collection:
2.15 TB
113,000 files
2300 folders
