You see, the bar is set fairly low for something to be considered a charity. You could have a group claiming to send water filters to Africa, and really it's just there to offload unsold inventory held by a shell company thats gathering dust in a warehouse. The percentage of legitimate charities that try to minimize their operating expenses is very low, so unless you spend the time to do extensive research, it's more likely that you would be giving money to fund someones opulent lifestyle built around the pretense of helping the needy.

I really don't know why I'm explaining this to you, it's not like you're going to donate your allowance to anything.
