Subject: more ford

another feature i have recently discovered on my new-to-me truck is my engine fan clutch.

you never experience these things throughout your entire life if you never have owned a real truck or dont have any hardcore bro-truck friends who go through tons of large trucks.
very few trucks have this, and they are typically found on larger trucks, such as semi's. this ford may be the only truck of this class which has this.

the damn engine fan is powered by the engine itself, and its so damn loud. sometimes, on occasion, depending on my 1900's computer settings carried over from my previous drive,
the engine will start with the fan clutch engaged.
this sets off car alarms in my underground parking.
it blows away any debris under the truck like sticks and leaves clear out of the way.

at first i thought something was terribly wrong. you just can never prepare for something like this.
i thought there was no exhaust, that it somehow was being routed directly from the manifold to the floor. it took me a few minutes to realize it was the fucking engine fan. it sounds like a harrier jet. i mean it is really.. damn.. loud.

what makes it even more unique is the slight vacuum leak probably at the this one EGR valve near the intake. so the engine starts and overs at a higher RPM on start. couple that with the hole found way back down the exhaust - its really a sound to hear.
typically, well, perhaps by law, this noise is dampened on larger semi trucks, so you dont really know how much noise an engine fan driven by a gear reduction set can sound like.
there is no dampening on this ford. its perfect. the vehicle is not large enough to fit this kind of thing.
i love it.
