im pretty sure the GT did outrun all those "top cars"
to my understanding the lemans race involves different classes who do not all race together at once, but do compete against each other overall
and VVT is a total waste. not even worth the added cost and complexity. this was something like a fringe feature for some special snowflake sedan, and it caught on because of some irrational desperate fear of emissions.
jesus christ we already have vehicles wich recycle their own exaust gas through multiple catalytic converters and have pressurized closed loop fuel systems which also recycle their vapors
adding a different cam timing for highway cruising, or whatever, is just stupid
