But why?
Nothing against Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez, but why would anyone remake Overboard? Why, in your dumbest moment, would you even allow such a thought to enter your head? Just as there is no crying in baseball, there is no hope of making a funny movie by gender-reversing the Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell roles. The original movie worked because Goldie Hawn played a pathologically spoiled rich girl and Kurt Russell played a crass redneck throwback. It didn't hurt that both were comic geniuses supported by a brood of very funny kid actors. There is not a spark of wit in the 2018 trailer.
It is imperative that someone rescue Anna Faris from this nightmarish treadmill of unimaginative remakes so that she can keep doing slightly less stupid things like The House Bunny. I propose a special SEAL team. This seems like the best solution -- a quiet surgical strike with minimal loss of life.
