Warband Update Thread 2
Our new marshal, Boyar Khavel, must have been in conference with Boyar Nalreda because the former is now adopting the excellent campaign principles of the latter. After a rough patch, the Vaegirs are now the preeminent force on the map. No one can deal with us. Our holdings are vast, and we keep adding to them. Last night, we dealt near-finishing blows to the Nords and Rhodoks. Our glorious marshal successfully besieged two castles and Uxkahl, which the Rhodoks had formerly taken from the Swadians.
Meanwhile, I noticed that Boyar Vlan was besieging Kelredan Castle all by himself. This interested me. Why would he do that? I bestirred myself and rode over for a look. It turned out that Kelredan was badly garrisoned -- clever Vlan. Rather than join the siege of Uxkahl, I decided to help Vlan. I mean, why not?
Predictably, Vlan lost interest in the siege, allowing me to start building towers. I was certain that my party could take the castle, but I wanted to see if I could talk the commander into surrender. It worked. Now it was only a matter of applying for ownership with King Yargolek and chasing away the enemy until I got a decision.
I was awarded the castle, which overjoyed me, but I knew that I must immediately set about garrisoning it. I believe it has a respectable force, though I will continue to populate it. The best thing is that I now have a place to park all those Vaegir Marksmen and Nord Huscarls, so I can build an exclusively mounted company. With my party's high training stats, my ranks are filling quickly with Swadian knights, and our pathfinding speed is back up to a respectable 6.2. Woe betide anyone who wants a tussle.
This puts me exactly where I want to be. My income is prodigious. I have an elite field force and a garrison that is evolving into a formidable defense group.
I have arrived.
