I have decided that village looting is the worst thing in the game. It's nearly always perpetrated by small parties, often made up of disaffected Khergits, so they're hard to catch. They also tend to run toward stupid places like the Nord lands, which have lots of steep hills and sheer cliff faces. Worst of all, they keep your economy in the crapper and reduce the number of villagers you can recruit. A side effect is the reduction of food variety in towns. If villagers are harassed, they can't bring sausages and cheese to market, so you end up eating 28 loaves of bread and rotten pork.
