RE: Adventures in Warband Economics Part 3
That's one of the things I like about it. It stress-tests your macro and micro management skills. You have to pay attention to everything all the time. The message feed is especially important.
Anyway, Boyar Knuddar took both Narra and Halmer. What a marshal. We've been blessed with some really good campaign leaders.
I checked my standing with King Yargolek. He's a solid friend, but I asked for a task to improve our relationship. It's a amazing how many sea raider landings he comes up with. Having cleaned out the landing, I asked him for Halmer. He was going to keep it for himself, but when I pressed the issue, he remarked, "Interesting." So I nudged him from one position to another, which suggests that it helps to have a good standing with a faction and a friendship with the king.
I wound up not getting the town, but he did give me Alburq Castle a few minutes later, so that's all right. Alburq is a Nord property, so it's easier to manage. Compared to a town, the tax revenue sucks, but it's something. I don't recall whether I have dyeworks in both Narra and Halmer, so I'll check on that.
Sanjar Kahn did show up finally, but not where I predicted. Instead of re-taking the cities, he showed up at one of my castles to loot nearby villages. Because I was so close to Radoghir, I immediately added all the knights I could cram into my group and went after him. My party of 120-ish beat his 400-ish easily, in spite of his 110 lancers.
Pretty much as I predicted, shortly thereafter the Khergits sued for peace, so it's probably a good thing I didn't commit to a town siege.
I love this game.
