Warband Sitrep 4
For some reason, I cannot escape this loony-tune economy. I have two towns, two castles, and three villages. I have dyeworks in eleven or twelve cities. I have 80 knights and six companions in my company, as well as about 1,000 troops of mixed competence in garrisons. With enterprise income, taxes, tariffs, and loot sales, I'm making gobs of money.
And yet, I have to keep track of the date so that on certain days I can park my party in a castle garrison. If I don't do this, I lose money. At any given time, at least two dyeworks are under sequestration. Most of the legitimate war parties I fight have an average of 30-50 men with junk gear. Bandit parties are drying up, and the few big ones I can find have loot that isn't worth selling -- even sea raiders aren't helping much.
Again, some of this is my fault. I have persecuted enemies cruelly, reducing even kings' parties to nothing. I regularly hound King Harlaus and King Graveth; half the time they're in one of my prisons. On the rare occasions I see Sanjar Kahn, I destroy him. I even beat Sultan Hakim's massive group with surprising ease. Everybody else is like chaff in the wind. Difficulty is pretty high. Maybe I should max it out to give enemies more confidence, but I object to the concept of low-rent enemies one-shotting my Swadian knights. This is very artificial and silly.
For weeks, the Vaegirs have had no marshal. King Yargolek just travels around having feasts and doling out estates. This allowed the Saranids to retake Hammar before I could do anything about it.
Though I don't want to be marshal, I think I must take the job if it's offered. If I could hold a party together, we could finish off the Saranids. On the other hand, they're the only thing keeping the Khergits from paying attention to us. The latter group is growing because of their Saranid acquisitions. Sanjar Kahn appears to be attracting a lot of defectors.
This remains an unpleasant, weirdly unbalanced situation. I think I broke something. Maybe I should start over. I could be a girl and spend my first days being snubbed, storing up resentment and unleashing it in a late-game rage of world domination. Or I could go build stuff in Fallout 4.
Newp, not buying Kingdom Come: Deliverance. For me, it hath a reeky odor. O! when will we see Bannerlord?
